Join us, Kerry and Clare, for episode 7 of Sow Chatty: A brand new gardening discussion show by two passionate (fairly) new gardeners with unending enthusiasm for their growing spaces and a propensity to enjoy a good natter! In this episode we tell you what’s hot and what’s not in our gardens this week, as well as humorous tales of our Daft Thing of the Week and our bargains for the garden, the pantry or the allotment. This week our main event topic is around the Staples and Stars when growing your own, regardless of how much space you have or whether you have a kitchen garden or an allotment. Following the dig for victory principle to garden staples, we discuss the staples we opt for, our preferred way of growing them and the extra things we grow each season. Whether we are trying a novelty “trendy” crop or just "must-have" stars that we and our families enjoy, these are the crops that keep us excited. We also reveal some of the crops we won’t grow again! Thank you to everyone who sent in pictures or took part in a our polls/posts on our Community Page - to take part just click 'Visit Community' in the YouTube app on our homepage. Over the last two years we have become great friends and have been musing for months about starting a discussion show together, as a way of building a deeper connection with our audiences and sharing our joy (and the inevitable frustrations) of the gardening season with you. This community is for all of us and we hope you enjoy this new safe, uplifting space we are creating for us to share. We garden in two very different styles in the UK, in the equivalent US Hardiness Zone 8b growing spaces. Kerry has a full size allotment plot and a generously sized suburban garden, whilst Clare grows in a purpose built vegetable garden based on her working farm. One of us is a little bit chaotic in gardening style and the other seeks a slightly more regimented garden. I’m sure, if you’ve followed both of our channels you’ll know which is which!
