Her father perceived an aura about her and painted her picture on her every birthday. Saikat, Sanjhbati's father explains to her the sudden visions that encourage him to draw. Sanjhbati also visualizes fictional tales. Pujarini, the lamp which her father lights up while painting is the one with whom she shares her thoughts. Sanjhbati's fairytales keep coming to her through her experiences of youth. But, she gets disillusioned when she catches her father in a compromising position with a female family friend. Her mother is unable to survive this shock. She severs ties with her father. She starts communicating with Pujarini and visualizing her fictional tales. Years later a meeting with the female friend makes her realize her mistake. She goes back to her father to find him weak, pale and depressed. he hadn't painted anything in the past years. Sanjhbati inspire him to take up the paint brush and for the first time he makes a sketch of his dead wife.
