Spring Hope man accused of shooting 15-year-old gets $500,000 bond

A Spring Hope man accused of shooting a teenager during a reported robbery in Nash County appeared in court Monday. Zachary Bryant faces three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. Bryant appeared in court Monday, where a judge set his bond at $500,000. A next court date was set for April 10. Bryant was arrested Friday night after he called 911 to report reported a theft from his vehicle, according to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office. Bryant told deputies he was inside his home on Savage Road when his dogs started barking. When he went outside, he said he saw two "light-skinned males" leave his truck and enter a red vehicle near the intersection of N.C. Highway 581 and Savage Road. Deputies said Bryant went back into his home, put on clothes and retrieved a handgun. As he searched his truck, he noticed his toolbox was open and some tools were missing. Bryant reported the incident to deputies around 10 p.m. A short time later, he said he noticed a car matching the description of the car he saw at his home.
