At the turn of the twentieth century, photography was still struggling to be recognized as a legitimate art form. One of the central figures who changed that perception was Alfred Stieglitz. In this episode, we explore how Stieglitz helped transform photography from a technical medium into a respected artistic practice. Through the Photo-Secession movement, the influential magazine Camera Work, and the legendary 291 Gallery in New York, Stieglitz created the cultural environment that allowed photography to enter the world of modern art. We also discuss some of the most important moments of his career, including the iconic photograph The Steerage, his long artistic relationship with Georgia O’Keeffe, and the groundbreaking Equivalents series — a body of work that helped redefine photography as a modernist and even abstract art form. This episode examines how Alfred Stieglitz reshaped the history of photography and why his influence continues to shape the medium today. 📖 Read the full article: https://www.sanalsergi.com/alfred-sti...
