If you're not familiar with the minor pentatonic scale, you can think of it as the blues sound. I use this scale nearly as much as I use major scales. While there are other pentatonic scales, this one has the most practical applications. It's situated nicely between the pedals up and pedal down major positions. It's also easy to transfer any pedals down licks we already know to this position as long as we resolve them to the new root on string 7 or back to a PD or PU major position. Nearly all of those classic Mooney licks involve passing through this position.
