The banality of evil is a fundamental key to Hannah Arendt's thinking and is reflected in the issues we face in the 21st century. Based on the famous trial of a Nazi bureaucrat, Arendt suggested uncomfortable formulations about the ability to judge, discern, and think. The banality of evil is, in a way, a warning to those who assume the existence of human “monsters” and seek to hide the perception that ordinary people can participate in and produce extreme evil. The impasse between morality and politics and the indifference towards the other, the recognition of singularity and plurality, expose another question: where does our ability to judge lie? Hannah Arendt's thinking, born in a world that had just experienced the atrocities of Nazism, can help us in this difficult and necessary task of taking a stand on the problems of our time, and that is what we will talk about in this edition.
