On 27 August 1977 the world renowned meditation master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche arrived at Manjushri Centre - an event that heralded the dawn of Modern Kadampa Buddhism in this world. Since that time Venerable Geshe-la has worked tirelessly to introduce Modern Kadampa Buddhism into contemporary society and create a worldwide infrastructure to support its growth and development in this and future generations. All these developments have been accomplished through the international charitable organisation that he founded - The New Kadampa Tradition (NKT-IKBU). The Gift of Modern Kadampa Buddhism All the practices come from Buddha himself and have been preserved over the centuries by an unbroken lineage of fully realised Teachers. Venerable Geshe-la has prepared a special presentation of these teachings suitable for the modern world that retains all the original meanings of Buddha’s teachings. This presentation is Modern Kadampa Buddhism. Through this great kindness everyone, regardless of nationality, culture, age or gender, now has the opportunity to follow a pure spiritual path that helps to solve the problems of daily life and leads to a true, everlasting happiness.
