What is a method chain? A method chain is when you combine multiple methods together, like an assembly line. This is one of the most powerful things you can do with Ruby. You start with an input value. Then, through a series of transformations, you get this object into whatever format or shape you want it to be. Every step has one job. Understanding method chains (not to be confused with the Law of Demeter) will help you write more idiomatic Ruby code. In this video, you'll learn the exact techniques I personally use to do this. When you do this, you'll learn about new Ruby methods, techniques, and even find out new ones to improve your code. For example: In this video, you'll find a combination of chars / each_slice / map, but if once we understand what these are doing... We can replace them with one method, scan(/.{1,3}/). That's the power of deeply understanding your code. What's my editor? Atom What's the plugin I use to see the results inside the editor? "Seeing is believing" You can learn more by watching more of my videos now, subscribing to this channel if you haven't yet, and visiting my website: https://www.rubyguides.com/ Thanks for watching!
