I'm continuing my build of a Solar off-grid system. In this video I dig a trench for my solar wires. They need to get from the ground mount in the back yard, to my garage where the solar charge controller will be located. I first dig the trench using a pick-ax and shovel. The ground is frozen on the top, so the pick-ax is needed to get through it. The conduit is SCH 40 PVC, one inch diameter. Every joint is glued. At each end I'm using a shallow sweep 90° elbow. I'm then using sand to coat around the conduit before back fill. The sand prevents sharp rocks from damaging the conduit.
