The New Boys - St. John's Cathedral Boy's School

Bill Arthurs worked at Robert Land Academy after working at St. John's Cathedral Boy's School. There were 15 deaths at St. John's Cathedral Boys' School, including deaths from hypothermia and brain aneurysms. In 1970, Markus Janisch collapsed during the Interschool Snowshoe Race and died from a brain aneurysm. Again, in 1976, Ted Milligan collapsed from hypothermia while training for the Interschool Snowshoe Race. Lastly, In 1978, 12 boys and one staff member died from hypothermia and drowning after canoeing on Lake Temiskaming. The school struggled financially and with its reputation after the canoeing disaster on Lake Temiskaming. The school finally closed its doors in the early 1990s.
