While its pad setup places it firmly in the midrange, the real headline feature is the new V31 sound module. Sharing the complete sound engine and V-Edit architecture of the V71 flagship, it delivers over 1,000 instruments, 70 factory kits, ultra-low latency, deep sound editing, and a surprisingly powerful internal mixing system—features rarely seen at this price point. Compared to the smaller TD-07KV, the TD-313 is a major step up thanks to larger pads, dual-zone toms, a 14" triple-zone ride, and the V31 module itself. Compared to the TD-316, compromises include the fixed hi-hat with foot controller, a simpler snare without positional sensing, a smaller rack, and fewer crashes. Triggering is solid overall, though the hi-hat feel and snare technique require some adjustment.
