Kingdoms of the world are given over to Jesus Christ at the trumpet blast of the seventh angel, right before the Millennium’s start. That last trumpet is also the time of the first resurrection, when the faithful of all ages are brought back to life and glorified alongside those Christians still living at Jesus’ return. Together, they meet the returning Messiah in the air as the Bride of Christ, ready to reign at His side in the Kingdom of God for the thousand years of the Millennium. Read this promise with me in John’s vision, recorded in Revelation 20. After he sees the Devil bound, he continues: “And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” [vv. 4–6] Yes, all the spirit-filled, faithful of God will be raised glorified and incorruptible, as the Apostle Paul puts it, and will join Jesus Christ in His government, forming together the Kingdom of God. Those who had shunned false and corrupted worship in this life and who showed God with how they shaped and ordered their lives under Jesus Christ in today’s world will be given the privilege of shaping and ordering tomorrow’s world by the side of their Messiah—sharing in His glory, and ruling with Him over the world.
