This week, we’re back with updates from the site of our $55K dream home in Bohol. After 11 weeks of construction, we’re checking in with our architect/contractor to see if we’re still on track with both our budget and timeline. Here’s what went down during our 3-day visit: Final Material Decisions Made: Mond, our architect, walked us through the final tile selections and showed us the bathroom fittings that had just arrived. Seeing it all come together is incredibly exciting! Construction in Full Swing: After a short break, the 15 strong crew was back at work, laying pool plumbing, tiling the terrace and pushing the build forward. The Bunk Houses/Staff Accommodation: For the first time I take a look at the staff’s living quarters and shared details on how we’re paying the team working on the house. Solar Installation: Solar panels have officially been installed, which is a big step toward our goal of sustainability. Budget Concerns Addressed: A lot of you asked why we paid 60% upfront for the build. We dive into why we made this choice and how it’s worked for us so far. The Drainage Issue: Another week of heavy rain revealed significant drainage problems—something that will need immediate attention. Every week brings new challenges and wins, and this visit was no exception. Are we still on track to complete this build on time and within budget? Tune in to see the progress, and let us know what you think in the comments! 🪴 If you enjoyed this video, please give it a like, drop us a comment (we’d genuinely love to hear from you), and subscribe if you're curious about living a slower, more intentional life — one that’s a little more connected to nature, community, and what actually matters. 📘 Grab our book: A Foreigner’s Guide to Building a Home in the Philippines — only $7.99 at www.thegroundednomads.com.
