Hoka Clifton 6 After 100 Miles

I wasn't quite sure what to make of the Clifton 6 at first. By the looks of it, it should be a max cushion high mileage shoe. But once I finally and eventually figured out that this is a daily trainer, the Clifton 6 and I started to get along quite nicely. The metarocker offsets the low heel drop, and combined, they make for a comfortable and smooth stride at easy and moderate paces. The EVA isn't the softest or the springiest foam I've ever run in, but it doesn't have to be. When you're in sync with the Clifton 6, it all just works. But that also means that, when you're going a little slower than the shoe wants, it seems to fight you a bit. Or more precisely, things don't quite feel as efficient when you're running a bit more relaxed or slower than a daily trainer type of pace. In terms of wear, the Clifton 6 has been holding up nicely. The exposed foam portions of the midsole are doing better than I would expect, as is the ample but restrained use of rubber. I have one spot of higher than anticipated wear around my heel, but that is something I've been seeing a lot lately with my low HR training. Overall, it's been happy times running with this shoe.
