#pendakian #kerinci #gunungkerinci #viakersiktuo #sumatera #jambi Mount Kerinci is the highest active volcano in Indonesia as well as the highest mountain on the island of Sumatra. Located on the border between Jambi and West Sumatra Provinces, this mountain has an altitude of about 3,805 meters above sea level (masl). Mount Kerinci is part of the Kerinci Seblat National Park, which is one of the largest national parks in Indonesia and is home to many rare flora and fauna, including Sumatran tigers and Sumatran rhinos. Mount Kerinci has the shape of a stratovolcano, which is a cone volcano formed from layers of volcanic material resulting from eruptions. The mountain is often a climbing destination due to its beautiful natural scenery and attractive challenges for climbers. In addition, from the top, climbers can witness a panoramic view of the valley, tea plantations, and on a clear day, can even see the Indian Ocean. This time I tried climbing Mount Kerinci through the Kersik Tuo route, a village in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. This trail is the main and most popular route for hikers because it is easier to access than other trails, and is equipped with climbing posts. Overview of climbing routes and posts: Kersik Tuo Village Basecamp: The climb starts from the basecamp in Kersik Tuo Village. Here, climbers can arrange permits and prepare logistics. Post 1 (Pintu Rimba): The path to Pintu Rimba is a relatively flat path, passing through tea plantations and dense forests. This is the official entrance to the Mount Kerinci forest. Post 2 (Bangku Panjang): From Pintu Rimba, climbers head to the Bench Long Post, which takes around 1-2 hours. At this post there is a large enough area to rest. Post 3 (Pondok Batu): The journey to Pondok Batu takes a steeper route, and the road conditions are increasingly challenging with slippery tree roots. Shelters 1, 2, and 3: These shelters are areas that are often used as camping spots because the land is relatively flat and quite wide. Shelter 3 is the location most often used as a place to spend the last night before heading to the summit. Mount Kerinci Peak: The journey from Shelter 3 to the peak takes around 3-4 hours with increasingly steep and rocky terrain. From the peak, climbers can enjoy stunning views, including the valley, Lake Gunung Tujuh, and in clear weather, the Indian Ocean. Thank you to those of you who have watched until the end.
