No-Bake Chocolate Dessert Final weight: about 1 kg (2.2 lb) Pan size: 18 × 19 cm (7 × 7.5 in) Height: 4 cm (1.5 in) Ingredients: Base: Chocolate cookies or crackers – 160 g (about 33 pieces) Cream: Milk – 500 ml (2 cups) Eggs – 2 Sugar – 100 g (½ cup) Vanilla sugar – 10 g Cornstarch – 60 g (2 heaped tbsp) Butter – 50 g Chocolate Glaze: Chocolate (milk or dark) – 90 g Vegetable oil – 30 g (2 tbsp) Instructions: In a saucepan, pour about one third of the milk. Add eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, and cornstarch. Whisk until completely smooth with no lumps. Add the remaining milk and mix again. Place on medium-high heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the cream thickens and starts to bubble. Let it boil for about 20 seconds, then remove from heat. Immediately add butter and whisk until fully melted and incorporated. The cream should be thick, silky, and glossy. Line the bottom of a rectangular dish with a layer of cookies. Spread one third of the hot cream on top. Add a second layer of cookies, then another layer of cream. Repeat with the final layer of cookies. Cover with plastic wrap touching the surface and refrigerate for about 20–30 minutes until cooled. Chocolate Glaze: Break the chocolate into pieces, add vegetable oil, and melt over a water bath or in short microwave bursts until smooth. Pour the glaze over the cooled dessert and spread evenly. Refrigerate for another 20–30 minutes until the chocolate sets. Serve: Cut into slices and serve with tea or coffee.
