Our malligator Belgian Malinois loves to jump and Chase and run and of course bite. Our breeder suggested this type of device for our pup and later we found out that others call them flirt poles. Our Malinois is so energetic and bite. Happy and loves to play tug of war to the death. She is almost 4 months old in this video and weighs about 25 lb. Our first rudimentary version, a broomstick with twine tied around the end and a puppy toy or shop towel tied to it with about 4 ft of twine. It, worked while she was 6 weeks up to about 10 weeks. Then she started getting bigger and stronger. So my husband had to make a special heavy duty version of the flirt pole for her. we were using key rings and carabiner and twine to anchor the bait to the pole, but our pup Bent the key rings and Bent the normal duty carabiners and was about to break and chew through the twine. we found heavy duty carabiners and flexible galvanized wire and cable loops and a 5/8 in dowel to Make a flirt pole that could stand up to her energetic play. As most people know, Belgian Malinois are a very high energy breed of dog. So she brings this toy to us several times a day because she wants to play malligator fishing. She would even choose do fishing rather than getting a treat if she had the choice. Of course, she's happy to accept unlimited treats after the play session ends. I was told to be careful not to over stress the puppy's joints while they are growing. So we try to do this type of play on grass when possible.
