Wrist locks are one of the most common techniques used in all of martial arts and self defense training. There are thousands of wrist locking techniques in the martial arts, when you are grappling in the clinch with an opponent. Some of these jujutsu techniques that are taught are good, and some of them are not. . One of the biggest problems with training in wrist locking techniques is that many of the kata came from traditional Japanese martial arts where they had to defend themselves against a sword. Although wrist locks are a great defense against a sword, the reality is, no one is going to come at you in the same way a sword would come at you. So, yes the wrist lock is a good technique, but the way that many train the lock is not applicable for any real self defense situation. . To be effective using jujutsu wrist locks for self defense, you have to do 3 things. (01) Counter Grab to control the energy of the opponent. (02) Control The Arm to be able to control the distance (03) Use Striking Techniques to be able to neutralize the opponent to effectively apply the wrist lock. . In the video I demonstrate 2 basic wrist locks and how you can apply these locks towards self defense. The 2 wrist locks that I use in this demonstration are: (1) Kote Gaeshi / Omote Gyaku (2) Ura Kote / Ura Gyaku . To use jujutsu (also known as jujitsu or jiu jitsu) wrist locks effectively in self defense you will have to counter grab the advance, control the arm as well as utilizing various punching and kicking techniques to neutralize the oncoming attack. . This lesson is directly for those training in the traditional Japanese martial arts and self-defense techniques of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo). - #Ninjutsu #MartialArts #SelfDefense - Soke Anshu Christa Jacobson; Headmistress of the Budo Ryu Kai (a.k.a Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo), is one of the most sought after instructors in the traditional and eclectic martial traditions. In 2004 she wanted to bring back the tradition of Japanese Bujutsu, something that she felt has been lost in the modern world. To do this she established the Budo Ryu Kai, meaning School of the Warrior Way. . The Budo Ryu Kai (Budo Ryu Ninjutsu) was developed by her personal research, training, experience, as well as the collection of seven Japanese warrior traditions (also called Nana Musha-den) and combining all of these facets into a way to fully develop one’s mind, body and spirit as one. . Budo Ryu Ninjutsu is Soke Anshu Christa Jacobson's modern approach towards the study of ancient samurai & ninja warfare. The seven warrior arts that are taught within the Budo Ryu Kai are: . Koka Ryu Kempo (甲賀流拳法) Tenjin Ryū Jujutsu (天神流柔術) Tomo Ryu Shinobijutsu (戸猛流忍術) Eishin-ryū Iaijutsu (英信流居合術) Koto Ryu Koppojutsu (虎倒流骨法術) Gyokko-Ryū Kosshijutsu (玉虎流骨指術) Togakure-ryū Ninpo Taijutsu (戸隠流忍法体術) - Checkout Our Merch Here: https://teespring.com/stores/budo-ryu...
