After much trial and tribulations I finished a project which was not easy to do. I initially wanted to make a simple video but I thought it would be cool to score my own stuff, do a couple of effects in After Effects. . . . Opps, took a bit longer than I thought. I am surrounded by talent as well so I was constantly seeing people do great things and asking them if they wanted to be filmed for the video. Everyone who accepted meant one more shooting. suffice to say that a couple of months later and here it is Score before Video? I will elaborate later on the fact that this score was done before image was created. All depending on your project, both ways, in my humble opinion, are acceptable. My opinion is that for punchy, dynamic, energetic short videos it is always better to score before even placing a frame on a timeline. For more elaborate and longer storytelling you are obliged to wait for an initial cut before sitting down and working on musical or sound effect ideas. Some of the most important things to pay attention to in putting a score together is You need dynamics: A feeling that the song has a beginning, middle, and an end. The music also has to have feel as though there is some sort of melodic story. Punches, sound effects and sudden elements: You cannot drive a point across visually if you ears do not get the message as well. Therefore, explosions, cracks, ticks, static sound really do the trick. Resign yourself to the fact that you will need to re-place your semi finished video back into your score software and vice versa to do final adjustments. Being an artist is tough on one's spirit. Being a circus artist is tough on the spirit, the heart and the mind and the physique. This video showcases the exploits of female circus artists in their respective disciplines. With emotion , grace, and beauty, these girls push the limits of their respective discipline into something magical and expressive. Filmed without their makeup and costumes, their beauty emanates right through the lens.
