The business vision of the founder of Playa Mia Grand Beach & Water Park, Mr. Jose Trinidad Molina Castellanos, motivated the construction of a new state-of-the-art venue in the year 1999, which would not only gather all services offered to the day but would also revolutionize the concepts of “Cozumel beach destinations” by creating the first “Cozumel Beach Adventure Park” in the island. Thirteen months later, on March 29th 2000, our new facility was inaugurated with the biggest palapa in the Yucatan Peninsula, the first artificial reef concept with our Underwater Mayan City, the biggest Cozumel beach area and the first kids club made to satisfy the whole family vacation trip concept, implementing activities and services suited for the global market and with top standards of the finest beach clubs in the Caribbean. In the year 2003, our corporate image was redesigned to re-launch and modernize our products and services in the tourism market, thus becoming one of the best shore excursions in Cozumel and what is now called PLAYA MIA GRAND BEACH & WATER PARK. In the year 2005, nature takes its course and strikes the island twice with two mayor hurricanes, Emily, category 4 on July and barely three months after, Wilma, category 5 on October. Both hurricanes, specially the second one, devastated the entire island of Cozumel limiting activities for a while. Due to the large damage PLAYA MIA GRAND BEACH & WATER PARK suffered, reconstruction of the park began with a more modern and functional architecture that would endure nature’s clemencies and would set us as a vanguard of the Cozumel beach parks. The dismountable roof that covers the main restaurant is the main symbol of innovation that characterizes our company. It has been more than 25 years of hard work, effort and investment, but above all of dedication to satisfy all expectations of each and every one of our guests, therefore becoming one of the best shore excursions in Cozumel. PLAYA MIA® offers more than 20 activities and services, and has an approximate number of 300,000 annual guest visits; thus making it one of the most visited locations and one of best shore excursions in the island of Cozumel.
