In this episode of Warrior Werks, I refine a crooked knife handmade by our youngest brother for my middle brother, Auda. The crooked knife has long been an essential tool across Alaska — used for carving, shaping wood, and daily survival. It’s a working blade rooted in tradition. This one was carved from walrus ivory with minimal tools, built with effort and intention. Over time, the ivory began separating from the steel. Rather than replace it, I focused on strengthening it — stabilizing the ivory with epoxy and CA glue, reinforcing the fit between handle and blade, sanding, shaping, and polishing it while preserving the character of the original work. This isn’t about making it modern. It’s about honoring the hands that made it and ensuring it remains a tool that can be used for years to come. Traditional tools. Strong hands. Work that lasts.
