Scholars have pondered its existence and location for centuries and theories about its resting place abound, a favourite location being Ethiopia. The Ark of the Covenant, the chest which God commanded be built to hold the tablets of the Ten Commandments, disappeared from Jerusalem after the destruction of King Solomon's Temple. It is central to the 3,000-year-old Ethiopian Orthodox Church and to the country's history. But here there's also a mystery, because there are two Ethiopian versions of what happened to the Ark.
