This time, however, we decided to add in a little extra adventure to this trip : a day trip to Koh Lipe in Thailand! I had not been to Koh Lipe but watching videos of others having visited the island and hearing such wonderful stories from my friends, Koh LIpe it is in our itinerary. As both Langkawi and Koh LIpe are just a flight and ferry ride away, we planned the visit over the weekend, from 21 February 2025 to 23 February 2025. We went to Langkawi on AirAsia, stayed a night at a wonderful village/kampung style place called Hujung Kampung. For lunch, we enjoyed a authentic kampung dishes at Dangau Langkawi, and for dinner, it was again at our favorite pizza place called Pizza Hills. The next morning, we headed to Telaga Harbour to take the ferry to Koh Lipe. We had to go through immigration, as Koh LIpe is in Thailand. The ferry ride to the island was about 1.5 hours. We spent the morning and part of the afternoon on the island. As per what I heard and watched (videos), we had a wonderful time there, sightseeing, walking on the beach, enjoying Thai food, buying souvenirs, riding on tuk tuk taxis and watching pretty people passing by. We went through Koh LIpe Walking Street, the shopping street of Koh Lipe and which is the main artery of the island. What used to be a dirt road built by the locals has now become a busy paved street. This shopping street with several side roads leads you through the beating heart, the centre of the island. Walking Street connects two of the three popular beaches and consists of a colourful mix of restaurants, shops, retail and service companies. Koh Lipe’s Walking Street is fairly narrow and about a kilometer long. With a stop here and there a good length to stroll back and forth for an hour during a sultry evening. There are 3 main beaches on Koh Lipe: Sunrise Beach, Sunset Beach and Pattaya Beach. We explored Koh Lipe’s sunrise beach. This beach faces east and opens up beautiful views of the sunrise. In front of Sunrise Beach, there are 2 small islands that are great for snorkelling and exploring with kayaks: Koh Kra and Koh Usen. The day went by quickly and for all we knew, it was already time to leave to catch our ferry ride back to Langkawi. We decided to come back again soon to stay for a night or two to enjoy the island further and more. Once back to Langkawi, we had dinner at another one of our favorite places called Cili Kampung.
