How to Make a Bed Scarf (Bed Runner) with Bump Interlining and Velvet Fabric Using Staples

This bed scarf (sometimes called a bed runner or a scaldino) was made using thick upholstery fabrics. See how we deal with thick layers of fabrics and how staples can make the sewing part easier. Using staples instead of pins is my go-to trick when dealing with velvet. The back of this bed scarf has a chenille velvet with a rubbery back, so the layers were challenging to line up. The staples made it much easier, and the bed runner turned out beautiful. We also added "bump" interlining and self-welt which made the layers even thicker.
