Guido Reni (Bologna, 1575 - 1642) Reni is considered the best known, most prolific and also most important artist of the Bolognese school, embracing classical idealism. His fame spread across Europe, making him one of the most studied artist of neoclassicism from the last third of the 18th century onwards. The Museo del Prado owns an excellent and varied collection of his works, notable among which are various celebrated paintings ranging from mythological and allegorical themes to religious pictures, and from his period of youth to that of full maturity. American Friends helps share the Prado's collection with a weekly session in English on the museum's social media.
