Latest Weapons for J&K SoG The terrorist infiltration and anti-terrorist operations are quite a frequent phenomenon in Kashmir valley though there has been significant reduction in last few years. Army, para-military forces and J&K Police are fighting together this battle. Therefore, it was much needed that the J&K Police should also be equipped with the armoured vehicles, latest assault rifles and accessories to counter the terrorist threat. In the lights of the same, 500 Sig Sauer-716 rifles and 100 Sig Sauer MPX 9mm pistols have been approved for J&K Police in January. They are the only state police in India to get these modern weapons. These rifles will be given to SoG or Special Operation group and personnel deployed for the security of protected people. Now as per the latest update Midhani – a government PSU will supply armoured vehicles to Jammu &Kashmir police. Armoured Vehicle by Midhani These vehicles will not only ensure enhanced protection against terror attacks, but also provide foolproof security to VVIPs visiting the state. As per the Midhani chairman and managing director SK Jha - the upgraded armoured vehicle will have all the latest international security standards. The emerging situation calls for higher protection which can be provided with technology and materials that Midhani has. Midhani has an armoured products manufacturing plant at Rohtak in Harayana and J&K DGP Dilbag Singh visited the place. Midhani will make at least 60 vehicles for J&K Police. This customised vehicle will first be shown to police ‘free of cost’ after which more such armoured vehicles will be supplied. As per Midhani Chairman - It is not just about quality. For this, the quality of material that is required should be different and suitable, which Midhani can provide. Kashmir police were already using armoured vehicles delivered by Midhani in the past. Midhani has developed an armoured bus and SUV. ISUZU based combat vehicle Midhani combat vehicle is based on ISUZU 4X4 wheel drive SUV. The vehicle can be used for Quick Response Team (QRT) Escort Vehicle Troops carrier in counter insurgency Operations (CT Ops) as well as for other operational duties. Ballistic Protection: Talking about its ballistic protection, the Roof and Body of the SUV is protected against 7.62x39 mm Mild Steel Core bullet quite frequently used by militants now a days and 7.62x39 mm HSC ammunition. The floor of the vehicle is protected against two HE 36 Grenades or Mills bomb. All the ports of the vehicle is covered with different sizes of Ballistic Protection glass and protected against 7.62x39mm MSC & 7.62x39 mm HSC rounds – the ammunition of AK series of rifles. The material used in the vehicle is a Bullet Resistant Steel, fabricated with reliable and tested MDN-45 Bullet Resistant Steel. Performance The vehicle has Power to Weight Ratio of 45 BHP/MT. The use of composite armour can further improve the power to weight ration to 60BHP/MT as the composite armour is lighter than the steel one. It has Crew Carrying Capacity of 7with Weapons. The Vehicle can run on flat tyres upto 100kms. Weapons & Accessories The vehicle has dedicated door for front, middle & rear which helps in quick mounting and dismounting of the armed personnel. It has revolving turret at the top which can be used to mount a 360 degree revolving turret.
