This is my POV from the Elimination race at Round 2 of the Ontario Cup, and honestly — this one never came together. The day started with the Sprint competition in the morning, followed by a 6-hour gap before the endurance events. Warm-up management was already compromised, and when bike check ran long, I started this race from the back after nearly missing the start altogether. To make things worse: No rail start Neutral lap started on the backstretch 1.5 laps of chasing just to stay connected That meant burning matches immediately before the race even settled. I ran a 102.6 gear, but never found rhythm — constant positioning stress, no flow, and no real opportunity to settle into the race. I went out early and finished 12th, which stings even more because elimination is usually one of my strongest and favorite events. Still — bad races are data. This one lit a fire heading into the Scratch race, which I’ll share next. If you race track cycling, especially elimination races, this is a good reminder of how small logistics mistakes snowball fast.
