In his desire for an heir, Dasharatha performed the sacred Putrakameshti Yagna, under the guidance of sage Rishyasringa. From the sacrificial fire, a divine figure emerged with a bowl of payasam (sweet kheer), which was to be shared among the queens. Soon after: Queen Kausalya gave birth to Lord Rama. Queen Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharata. Queen Sumitra gave birth to Lakshmana and Shatrughna. 🌞 The Arrival of Rama On the ninth day (Navami) of Chaitra month, during the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon), Lord Rama was born in Punarvasu Nakshatra and Karka Lagna. The entire kingdom rejoiced! It was said that even the gods and sages showered blessings from the heavens. 🏹 Why His Birth Was Special Lord Rama came to Earth to destroy evil forces, most importantly the demon king Ravana, and to restore dharma.
