The majority of multi-heads function to allow embroiderers to create multiples of the same items for bulk orders and increase output on a single run. For that reason, the heads on this kind of multi-head machine are all controlled by the same control system to ensure that they all run at the same time. But as for the question of whether a two-head machine can embroider two different items, technically, if you have a dual-function machine, the answer is yes. This style of embroidery machine also allows for embroidery on two separate projects at the same time. While this might seem like a great alternative, consider the following: You can achieve the same flexibility with two single head machines. With two single-heads you can create two separate projects, so if you’re looking to create different items as opposed to bulk orders, why invest in a multi-head with dual function capacity? Two single head machines are more portable than a multi-head dual-function machine. Since these single-heads are not connected, you can move them around at your convenience. The dual-function is much larger and much less portable. One dual-function multi-head costs the same, if not more, than two Ricoma single heads. At the end of the day, if you can achieve the same output and flexibility, not to mention enjoy easier portability with two single-heads, why would you invest in a more expensive machine to have the same results?
