In this free webinar Dirk Bondy and Bryan Allred discusses the latest edition of their book, Post-Tensioned Concrete Principles and Practice – 3rd Edition as well as present the latest version of their software program PTData. Dirk Bondy discusses the highlights of each of the book chapters. These chapters contain a combination of university level textbook principles of prestressed concrete currently used at UCLA and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo among other universities, and practical design examples intended for the practicing engineer. The book also contains structural details and more than 150 color photographs of the authors’ design and forensic projects intended to demonstrate the principles in the text. Bryan Allred performs the design examples using the latest version of PTData. He demonstrates how the program has been designed to be intuitive and easy to use by both the occasional and daily user, with built-in warnings and functions to help promote good designs that other programs may not possess. The examples include a two-way slab, long span beam and a two-way structural mat foundation. The three examples are straight forward and highlight the steps used to create an efficient, code compliant and state-of-practice design. The structural mat foundation example also includes a discussion of how settlement and seismic foundations are integrated into the mat foundation design. The examples are interlaced with construction photographs and details to show the translation of the PTData output to the structural drawings and the job site. The examples are useful to both the novice and seasoned post-tensioner. For the full recording: http://www.secure.skghoshassociates.c...
