Forensic Science at SciLifeLab: Designer Drugs – addictive, deadly & legal

New psychoactive substances (NPS), also called designer drugs or internet drugs, are newly created substances that often resemble existing illegal drugs. They do, however, have a chemical structure that hasn't been tested. Because of this, they are legal to sell and use, and some have serious side effects. So, why are they dangerous and how do forensic scientists combat them? In this video, you’ll hear about the history of one of these drugs, Cyclopropyl fentanyl, causing numerous deaths; what the researchers are doing about it and what electrophysiology is.
