I chose Skyline Trail, though I didn’t complete the full loop because time ran short. Still, along the first part of the trail, I was lucky to see bears, white mountain goats, and many fellow hikers. The day began sunny, then slowly shifted—clouds rolled in, light rain appeared, fog filled the mountains, and sometimes Rainier revealed itself, only to disappear again. Many people avoid hiking in rain, but rain has its own magic—it creates mist, atmosphere, and a quiet beauty you only feel in the mountains. I filmed this hike with a 360° camera, capturing myself, the trail, and the simple adventures of an ordinary day. I don’t regret a single moment—there was so much beauty, so many encounters, and so many small stories along the way. Interesting to know that Skyline Trail is considered one of the most scenic hikes in Mount Rainier National Park because it loops through multiple ecosystems in a relatively short distance. Along the trail, hikers can encounter alpine meadows, glaciers, volcanic rock formations, and wildlife such as mountain goats, marmots, and even black bears. Weather here can change rapidly—sunshine, rain, fog, and clouds often appear within the same day—making every hike on Skyline Trail a completely different experience.
