Sebastien de la Cruz performs "El Polverote" with the award-winning Mariachi Aztlán from the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley and the Grupo Folklorico de Bendiciones during the 22nd Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in San Antonio in Dec. 2016. Sebastien started competing at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza at a young age when one of his videos caught the attention of America's Got Talent's casting crew. It wasn't long before he appeared on the TV reality show where he ended up climbing to the top 10 at 10 years old. Sebastien captured the hearts of America, and since then, has had numerous television appearances in singing the National Anthem for the San Antonio Spurs NBA Finals, the Democratic National Convention and movie and film projects. MPR, producers of the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza, invited him back to the mariachi music festival in Dec. to present him an award of recognition for his positive portrayal of the Latino culture. Thanks to Sebastien, Dr. Dahlia Guerra, Frank Loera (UTRGV) and Anthony Salazar (Grupo Folklorico) for your work in presenting this beautiful performance during the Extravaganza! Thanks also to Sergio Martinez who choreographed this beautiful piece with Grupo Folklorico. Maestro Martinez is a teacher at the San Antonio School for the Performing Arts and a longtime advocate of Ballet Folklorico.
