After a successful first lesson in the circuit, we decided to move onto flapless approaches. The reason for practicing a flapless approach is to allow the pilot to be able to land the aircraft in the event of a flap failure. The flapless approach involves extending the downwind leg and descending at a slightly higher airspeed (70-75 knots in the PA28). I am a student pilot from Edinburgh, currently doing my PPL (Private Pilot's Licence) training at Fife Airport with Tayside Aviation, which is a flying school based in Dundee. I received my first flying lesson when I was 18 years old and began my flight training soon after that initial trial flight. I've always been interested in learning to fly fixed wing aircraft rather than taking helicopter flying lessons.
