Video of a ride on an R211A (S) Rockaway Park Shuttle train on its summer route from Rockaway Park - Beach 116 Street to Rockaway Boulevard, during a thunderstorm. The day was mainly sunny up until just prior to taking the video, when the sky got notably dark and several storms passed through the NYC area. Despite the intense rain it was possible to get decent side window views from inside the train for most of the trip. The R211s primarily operate on the (A) , although with an increase of train sets it is now possible to see them on the Rockaway Park Shuttle during the summer period. On summer weekends, the (S) is extended to Rockaway Boulevard in order to provide better connections with all (A) trains. This also provides more frequent service to Aqueduct racetrack and JFK Airport which is normally served by (A) trains to/from Far Rockaway only. During this time the (S) also is operated at full train length instead of half length.
