Hello everyone, Please enjoy this Calm Carving video of some green wood working methods and relaxing creative techniques to make a fun little decorative pocket spoon for eating with. I began making these spoons when I was just a few years into my green wood working journey. I really enjoyed making them all the time but as my work progressed, the leaf spoons paused slightly. I still make them, but only vert occasionally. I find that when I make them, fond memories of the past come rolling back again. I began working with a log of beautiful wild cherry that split nicely for me. I then began shaping with my carving axe to form a spoon blank, a crude version of my final outcome. I then set to work with my knives to hollow the bowl of the spoon with a twca cam hollowing tool before working with my slojd carving knife to sculpt and shape my spoon. When the spoon bowl was refined, I then carved the little leaf motif by first removing the negative space before chip caving the stem and veins of the little leaf shape - A little nod to trees and the wood that continues to inspire me. At the end of the video, I give a small debrief but I completely lost my train of thought as a falcon came and sat in the tree that overhangs the workshop, completely oblivious to me. I was shocked ad it flew away as I gasped but it was a beautiful sight and I am glad I captured my reaction! Thank you all for watching me carve and thank you for your support. I really appreciate you all. If you have any questions, do comment below and I will try and get to them when I can!
