Co-designing a Toolkit for Epilepsy Self Management (Part 1 of 2)

This is a recording of an online event from Self Management Week 2025, an annual events series hosted by the ALLIANCE. This recording, from 23 September, was from an event called 'Co-designing a Toolkit for Epilepsy Self Management', hosted by Lorraine Jackson, Manager of the William Quarrier Epilepsy Centre in Glasgow, and Zoë Prosser, a Participatory Design Practitioner and Lecturer. This recording (the first of a series of two recordings from the event) shows presentations from Lorraine and Zoë, where they discuss the learnings and methods from a co-design process which led to the creation of an Epilepsy Self Management Toolkit. Part two takes a deeper dive into the toolkit and shows testimonies from individuals with epilepsy who were involved in the co-design process and who have benefited from the toolkit. The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre is an independent hospital operated by the health and social care charity Quarriers which provides unique epilepsy services to patients and clinicians across Scotland. It is the only residential assessment and treatment centre in Scotland for adults with epilepsy.
