Viv has done this great solo for many years, even as far back as the Dio days, and then for his solo spot on the Adrenlize tour and more recently, the intro tape for the Sparkle Lounge tour. I remember first coming across it on one of his 'Master Licks' videos that was uploaded in the very early days of YouTube (like '07/'08 time) , and I have been trying to play it, on and off ever since. Last year I tried to seriously get it down, playing it every day, and found I was actually getting worse at it. It's been a very strange and eye opening experience about muscle memory and trying to build more strength in my left arm, which I feel has always been a weakness. So every now and then I have been coming back. I thought I had it 8 months ago, and then as soon as I started to record it, my arm gave out and I had no strength left. It's certainly something I am going to keep trying to play to keep my strength up. I was learning from this video ( • Def Leppard- 2009 Songs from the Spar... ) from Mark Devlin ( @markdevlinvisualdesign3311 ) , who designed the visuals for the Sparkle Lounge tour, as for the longest time, that was the only thing I could find, and a couple of Adrenalize tour era stuff. Coincidently enough, I once again found the 'Master Licks' clip I originally saw all those years ago on an Instagram post, after not being able to find it this last decade. Funny how things like that happen. Anyway, I think this shows Viv at his best, and a nice nod to Gary Moore! I hope you enjoy! I'm using my Jackson DK2, into a Boss IR-2 (just demoing it for a live gig, not sure if it's something I will use but interesting to try, I'm using a 'Soldano' like setting) into my Boss SDE-EVH going direct into my Focusrite Interface recording onto Logic Pro X.
