In 1999, Mayer joined Google as their 20th employee and played a pivotal role in shaping the company's iconic user experience and search functionality. During her tenure, she held various leadership positions, including vice president of search products and user experience. In 2012, Mayer took on the role of CEO at Yahoo, aiming to revitalize the struggling internet giant. Mayer's tenure at Yahoo ended in 2017, and since then, she co-founded the startup Lumi Labs — now Sunshine — which aims to improve users' iPhone contacts and Google contacts using intelligent algorithms and other functionalities. She holds a bachelor's degree in symbolic systems and a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University.
