BLM Moves to Revoke American Prairie’s Bison Grazing Permits

The Bureau of Land Management is moving to reverse a 2022 decision allowing American Prairie, formerly American Prairie Reserve, to graze bison on public lands in Phillips County, Montana. BLM says the bison do not qualify as domestic livestock under the Taylor Grazing Act, a move that could return more than 63,000 acres across seven allotments to cattle-only grazing.
