The International Inventories Program (IIP) is a cultural research project which was set up to investigate and document the corpus of Kenyan objects being held in cultural institutions across the globe. The IIP project partners are the following entities: the National Museums of Kenya, the Weltkulturen Museum (Frankfurt, Germany), the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum (Cologne, Germany), The Nest Collective (Nairobi, Kenya) and SHIFT Collective (Germany/France). In this video, Patrick Gathara, a Kenyan journalist, political cartoonist, media practitioner and author, talks about the expression of power that former colonialist nations define by keeping Kenyan and African objects and artifacts.
