On the Way to Pediatric Leukemia - Following Clonal Dynamics with Cellular Barcoding

On July 13, 2020, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) presented a virtual childhood cancer lecture featuring Leonard I. Zon, MD. Pediatric leukemia has long been thought to have started from a fetal blood progenitor. There are new methods to barcode cells and simultaneously examine gene expression. Dr. Zon's lab has examined clones of cells in aging and in inherited predisposition syndromes. The lab is exploring several techniques to examine clonal dynamics and to find the cell of origin for leukemia. During this lecture, participants will: 1) Understand clonal dynamics in blood stem cells. 2) Define new techniques for cellular barcoding. 3) Examine preleukemic states for clonal dynamics.
