Here is an official video of both elevators at the self storage facility I rent a unit at (you should know where it is by now) as they stand right now. The first video of the KONE was filmed early last month, and the video of the Montgomery KONE was filmed today as it was out of order when I filmed the other one (big surprise). As many of you know, the KONE (Elevator 1 on the east side of the building) was originally an Otis with Series 1 fixtures, most likely from the early 90's, that underwent modernization starting in late 2023 to mid 2024 after I made a call to management about an unsafe leveling issue. KONE came in and installed all new equipment inside and out, utilizing what look to be Monitor TR fixtures. This elevator has been running for about a year since the mod, and it's doing well. The only complaint I have about it is that it has not run great since it came back online. Even with all new equipment, it always hard jolts to a start, and the leveling/stopping is not very smooth either. Though I've ridden older hydraulic elevators much smoother than this one, this is worlds better than the safety hazard it was before. This elevator I did not even know about until I started renting my own unit here several years ago. Elevator 2 on the west side of the building is an original Montgomery KONE, most likely from the mid to late 90's. My videos on this elevator go back to 2013/2014 when my grandmother and aunts had a storage unit here, so many know this one. This is a 4,000 lbs. capacity hospital-sized car with the classic Innovation Universal. Though this one is a pretty neat elevator, and really isn't in bad cosmetic condition, it's been plagued with issues the past couple of years. Someone must have just come and fixed it, as I mentioned previously it was out of order last month. This elevator runs very poorly with on/off shaking and rattling, and it apparently has some kind of electrical issue as the fire hat recall light is now always lit for no reason. I'm guessing the management here is going to push whatever life it has left in it out, and although it is an old classic, I hope this one sees an identical modernization soon to bring it up to current code and safety standards and improve the overall quality of the facility (which I pay a large amount of money each month to utilize). As of today, June 15th, the inspection certificate is expired by about 2 weeks. Enjoy!
