For John Lennon’s 30th birthday, October 9, 1970, numerous friends sent him tapes with birthday wishes and songs. John received songs from many famous people, including Ringo Starr (“Happy Birthday John”), George Harrison (“It’s Johnny’s Birthday”), Nina Simone & Christine Dunham (“Happy Birthday”), Janis Joplin and the Full Tilt Boogie Band (Happy Trails”), and this one from Donovan (“Here Come the Threes”). Except for one partial airing on the Lost Lennon Tapes in October 1988, this song remains unreleased.
