I was surprised when I disassembled a customers NuTone LB55 Door Chime for repair. This LB55 was from 1992 and it has a completely different circuit board when compared to an early 1980's LB55. I show some of the differences between the 2 PCB's. It's surprising how much more modern the 1990's design is when compared to the original design which dates from the mid 1970's The redesign of the circuit board was probably driven from the discontinuation of the Intel 8021 and 8022 Microprocessor.
