Exploring Tre’r Ceiri – One of the UK’s Best Iron Age Hillforts | Yr Eifl Ridge Hike (North Wales)

Today I explore one of the most incredible historic sites in North Wales — Tre’r Ceiri Hillfort on the Yr Eifl mountain range. Starting from the car park above Nant Gwrtheyrn, I follow a circular hiking route up to Tre’r Ceiri, one of the best preserved Iron Age hillforts in the UK. Built around 2,000 years ago, the site once contained over 150 stone roundhouses and offers an amazing glimpse into life during the Iron Age. After exploring the hillfort ruins, the hike continues along the dramatic Yr Eifl ridge to Garn Ganol and Garn For, where the views across the Llŷn Peninsula and Irish Sea are absolutely breathtaking. This route is one of the best hikes in North Wales, combining history, rugged mountain scenery, and incredible coastal views.
