Perhaps the most famous high school show choir ever (and one of the first), the Carmel Ambassadors rose out of the tradition set forth by such mainstream singing groups like Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, the Indiana Singing Hoosiers, the Ball State Singers, the University of Miami Singing Hurricanes and the University of Wisconsin Singers. (Notice how many midwestern groups there were?) Starting in the late 70s, directed by legendary Ron Hellems and Ann Conrad, the Carmel Ambassadors established themselves as THE leaders in high school show choir. And in 1985 they debuted this Legendary number, originally from the Broadway musical, "The Tap Dance Kid," at the Bishop Luers Show Choir Invitational. The Carmel Ambassadors even get name checked on the 1st episode of "Glee" (as he originally went to Carmel rival, Warren Central).
