Presented on April 30, 2025 by Tharani Ravi, MD and Jasmine Rodriguez, MPH South Central Texas CEAL: Building Sustainable Community-Academic Partnerships to Address Public Health Challenges The South Central Texas Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) is an NIH-funded initiative aimed at addressing health inequities through meaningful, long term partnerships with diverse community-based organizations. Originally launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, CEAL has evolved to address chronic diseases and social determinants of health. This presentation highlights CEAL’s community engagement model, key principles of trust-building, and its ongoing impact in urban and rural communities across South Central Texas. After this presentation, attendees will be able to: 1. Describe the mission of the South Central Texas CEAL initiative. 2. List two core principles of meaningful community engagement used by CEAL. 3. Identify two strategies CEAL uses to build trust and collaboration with diverse community organizations. 4. Recognize the role of community-academic collaboration in addressing chronic conditions and social determinants of health such as food insecurity.
