Alice Limoges, a Camden-based singer-songwriter and music teacher, is set to release her latest single, Maine Trees In Winter, on February 14, 2025, across all streaming platforms. The song is a heartfelt collaboration with Anthony Cann, a Georgia-based songwriter whom Alice first connected with in the winter of 2021. What began as guitar lessons evolved into a four-year-long friendship and musical partnership. “Maine Trees In Winter" was born when Anthony visited Alice in Maine during the spring of 2024. Before leaving, he penned a poignant farewell note with the song's title and left it for Alice as a gift. Inspired by this gesture, Alice wrote the music for the track, using her electric guitar in a dropped-D tuning to create a lush, atmospheric backdrop for Anthony's evocative lyrics. With lyrics like “I realize, just like the trees, I’m stronger now for all I’ve lost and all I’ve shed along my misstepped ways,” the song reflects themes of strength, resilience, and personal growth, set against the imagery of winter trees shedding their leaves. The dreamy, introspective composition features four-part harmonies of Alice’s voice, adding depth and emotion to the song’s reflective tone. After composing the music, Alice took the song to Brian Evans, a producer based on Islesboro, Maine, who has worked with artists like The Eagles. Together, they fine-tuned the vocals, bringing the track to its final form. The result is a beautifully layered, emotionally resonant piece, and a testament to the collaboration between Alice and Anthony. Maine Trees In Winter marks Alice’s second release of 2025, following the January debut of A World Away (Song For Syria). That song, written and recorded after the fall of the Assad regime, was a personal tribute to Alice’s Syrian friends whom she met during her travels in the Middle East. A World Away and Aleppo (2016) share a similar sonic palette, continuing Alice's mission of offering empathy and connection through music. Looking ahead, Alice has big plans for 2025, including a total of 12 song releases.
