Hey music lovers, it's your friends at EarthQuaker Devices with another dose of EarthQuaker Sessions. For Episode 48, we have a special one featuring metal legends, the Melvins! Buzz "King Buzzo" Osborne, Dale Crover, and Steven McDonald. While checking out the Hizumitas Fuzz Sustainar, produced in collaboration with Wata guitarist of Boris, with whom the Melvins have toured multiple times, the affable legendary trio blessed us with an impromptu session. Yay for us and you! Both Buzz and Stephen use the Hizumitas on the two songs they perform. First, the Melvins own "Queen" from the 1994 album Stoner Witch followed by a heavy cover of the Rolling Stones' "Sway" sung by Stephen from the Melvins' 36-song acoustic collection Five-Legged Dog, released in 2021. You also get some of the patented wry Melvins humor between the two tunes, including Buzz' talking about his brilliant new audio innovation, "5.1 Mono," and his adroit description of the Hizumitas as a "distortion pedal with three knobs."
